Receptionist

Nathanson, Schachter & Thompson LLP is seeking a new receptionist to start in March or early April.

The ideal candidate is energetic, has an excellent grasp of Word, Outlook, Adobe and Excel, and good technical skills generally (able to troubleshoot minor IT issues). He or she is fluent in English, extremely organised, and can prioritise many tasks while handling the demands of a front desk which is occasionally very busy. Law firm experience is an asset, but is not required. More important is the candidate's attitude, enthusiasm, and set of computer-related skills.

Always maintaining a calm and cheerful demeanour, the ideal candidate will have a superlative work ethic and willingness to assist his or her team members. The receptionist is expected to act as a support person for senior LAAs, and to act as project manager for various office tasks, in addition to traditional reception duties such as: greeting clients, ordering supplies, setting up for meetings, dealing with service providers and ensuring that office systems run smoothly. In addition, those with an interest and aptitude may be asked to assist our expert paralegals in file-related tasks.

This opportunity would be well suited to someone seeking to begin an administrative career in the legal field, and to gain experience at a thriving and well-regarded law firm possessing a dedicated, cohesive and collegial group of staff and lawyers alike. Recent receptionists have moved on within NST and elsewhere, to become skilled paralegals and LAAs. The firm supports the educational and career-related goals of its junior staff.

Interested applicants should send a resume and brief covering letter detailing relevant experience, to Julia Lawn at jlawn@nst.bc.ca. Please include specifics as to your skill level in Word, Adobe, Outlook, Excel, Summation, PC Law, and any other relevant office software.

NST thanks all interested candidates but only those selected for an interview will be contacted. Deadline for applications is March 15, 2018 but interviews are ongoing: excellent candidates are encouraged to submit their materials promptly. The start date for this position is somewhat flexible as it is intended that the new receptionist will overlap with current staff.

Lawyers and articled students

NST is not currently seeking to hire either lawyers or articled students.  However, applications from former judicial law clerks and junior lawyers with exceptional academic backgrounds will be reviewed. They may be sent, in confidence, to Julia Lawn at jlawn@nst.bc.ca. Please include a copy of your undergraduate and law school transcripts with your materials.
